Our Next Concert's Details

The second half of our 2012-2013 season is unfolding and we are so excited to share the details of our first performance of 2013 coming up on Saturday, February 16, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. at the Calvary Assembly of God.

Valentine’s Day Romantic Concert

The program has a romantic theme, in keeping with Valentine’s Day. The orchestra will perform light classical selections, most of them familiar to us from movies. There will be music by Morricone, the Italian composer known for his film scores; Piazzolla, Argentine tango composer; Mascagni, whose Intermezzo from Cavalieria Rusticana was used in Raging Bull and Godfather III; and several other selections popularized by film. If you love Strauss waltzes, you will want to hear the DSO play both Blue Danube Waltz and Emperor Waltz. The concert will end with Bolero, Ravel’s most famous composition. This is the music that was specially adapted for Torvill and Dean, the British ice dancing pair, when they broke all previous conventions and records in ice dancing at the 1984 Winter Olympics. Bring someone you love for a special night out!

In continuing our collaboration with the Dover art League, four artisans from the group will be exhibiting their work. Their exhibits will open for your enjoyment and items will be available for purchase at 6:00 PM, an hour before the start of the DSO's performance. The artwork will continue to be on display through our intermission and for a short time after the performance.

Admission prices are Adults--$20, Seniors/Students/Military--$15. Children under 16 are free with a paying adult.

Tickets are available now--call 302-270-1903. For further information check out the DSO website--www.doversymphony.org.
